Zygor’s Alliance and Horde Guide Reviewed
I’ve just spent the last week leveling my Horde Warlock character, Anguine from level 35 to level 40 using John “Zygor” Cook’s Alliance and Horde Leveling Guide. What did I think? What’s the best thing about the guide? Does it fall down anywhere?
Keep reading & I’ll reveal all! Remember, my guides follow a strict and objective process that I outline here. I won’t tell you a guide is good unless its GOOD.
Zygor’s guides are touted on his website as being the number 1 selling guide on the Internet. I believe this for the following reasons.
1. The guide is very well polished — you feel like you’ve just bought a product from a large well funded company like adobe. The guide itself is presented in a graphically appealing way inside the game, and the forums, complete with Zygor staff are abuzz with activity and answered questions.
2. The Zygor forums are full of people who praise the game and are happy with their purchase.
3. The guide is obscenely easy to use. Its an in-game guide, and its fully automated… so you don’t even have to click “previous/next” to go to the next step.
4. Zygor and his team are constantly refining their leveling routes to make them as fast as possible, and
5. John “Zygor” Cook is always updating his customers with what they’re up to.
So lets get into the meat of it. Read on to find out about installation, ease of use, and effectiveness. Or in other words, can I use this guide, and does it level me fast?
Installation – 5 out of 5:
Just like every other guide I’ve reviewed thus far, Zygor’s guides are equally easy to install and get working on your system. A detailed step by step process is given, which is easy to understand and follow. You’d have to be very new to computers to not be able to understand his excellent and detailed instructions.
If you still can’t work it out, Zygor has special forum staff that answer questions there, and a 24 hour helpdesk service that’ll get you on track.
Ease of Use – 5 out of 5:
Zygor’s guides are the undisputed king of easy.
To start with, the guide is fully in-game. There’s no alt tabbing out to check html guides or web sites for more information — everything you need is included in the game. The guide also comes with a directional arrow which points you exactly where you need to go next to complete your next quest or goal.
The presentation as I’ve already said is very professional, and the in-game guide looks very appealing… in fact it looks like Blizzard themselves put it into the game! Sometimes you almost forget its there which is nice, since some guides clutter your window and generally just detract from your gaming experience because they’re a bit… err… clunky looking!
The Only Fully Automated Guide
Zygor’s guides are the only guides on the market that are fully automated.
This means that every time you complete a goal, Zygor’s guide senses it, and without any interaction from you the in-game guide will scroll down so you can read the next set of instructions, and your waypoint arrow will update and face automatically towards the direction of your next quest. Amazing, unique, and perfectly executed through all 5 levels I played the guide from 35 through 40.
If you want to look ahead to see what other quests you’ll need to complete in the future, or which one’s you just did, then you can still click prev/next buttons to move on to the next quest. This is especially handy when you first start out because you might get a quest which you can’t actually complete (I’ll discuss this common flaw in leveling guides later in this review).
Zygor doesn’t lose a single point for ease of use — you can’t find an easier, or a better executed in-game guide on the market.
Guide Effectiveness – 4.5 out of 5
An amazing leveling route by a master — Zygor’s guides have been heavily optimized by Zygor and his staff, who constantly run through their questing routes for greater efficiency (and then release them to their existing clients for free).
The only way to level faster than using Zygor’s guide would be to become a professional leveling guide developer yourself.
I had to dock Zygor’s guide half a point in effectiveness because like all guides on the market, there’s no way to seemlessly integrate the guide’s level with your own. Let me explain…
Say you’re a level 35 warlock called Anguine… You’ve been leveling for the last 5 levels in a seperate part of the WoW world, and now you’re told to uproot, and go to a more “questing efficient” area of the world. The problem arises when you’re asked to complete a quest objective which is part of a long quest line. Of course, you don’t want to go back and complete 5 low level quests just so you can continue on with a guide, so I recommend you just accept that you won’t be able to collect the experience that comes from that quest line and keep going.
Its not a huge deal, and you only face it once, but its a problem I’ve had with every guide I’ve reviewed so far. The only real problem is that the guide owners don’t pre-warn newer players about this — and newer players are the ones who might be easily confused by missing exlamation points above their supposed quest giver’s head!!
So just to forewarn you, any new guide you use will likely ask you to take on quests which you simply cannot due to missing out on an earlier step. I recommend you forget about those quests, and just push on. When I was using Zygor’s guide, only 2 quests suffered from this, so it wasn’t too big a deal, but one worth noting.
Conclusion – 4.9 out of 5:
My final score is slightly confusing, since I obviously docked this guide half a point for failing to tell us the common problems you’ll have when first using a fast leveling guide… however, since Zygor’s guide was so impressive in the other aspects, lets just say its not perfect, but its very, very close.
If you need a guide that’s:
- Highly optimized and levels you fast through questing, not grinding,
- Has dedicated and professional staff,
- 24 hour technical support,
- Super easy and fancy looking automated guide with directional arrows, then…
I think you’ll be happy with Zygor’s guides.
I’m certain you’ll agree with me after trying Zygor’s guides that they really are a cut above the rest. Go and find more information at John “Zygor” Cook’s home page.
