I’ve done an in depth review of Joana’s Horde Leveling Guide! Want to find out if your leveling could be faster than ever in WoW?

Read on!

For the last week, for at least 2 or 3 hours a day, I’ve been playing World of Warcraft with my level 25 Warlock, Anguine… and its been a blast leveling fast with Joana’s Horde Leveling Guide!

Like I said in my last post, I was particularly interested to give Joana’s guide an in depth review now that his new map-mod enabled guide was out. Joana, for one reason or another has put off including map mods, but thankfully he’s put in some time and produced an amazing in game leveling mod, complete with directional arrow that points to the next location, distance, and estimated time of arrival. Handy stuff!

So how did it play? Was it easy to use? Keep reading!

Lets start at the beginning.

Installation – 5 out of 5:

Easy, quick, well documented — only a complete computer novice couldn’t follow these detailed instructions successfully. Joana even goes one step further and includes a detailed introduction into how the guide works, how to enable it, and how to get the most out of it. Very impressive.

Ease of use – 4.5 out of 5:

Another job well done, Joana’s guide is very easy, and very straight forward. The only gripe I have is that you aren’t warned you might run into quests which are multi step… that is, you need to complete a bunch of other quests before you can start on the next, which means you might be a little confused at first as to why a certain NPC won’t supply you with a quest.

A minor gripe however, a quick click on Joana’s HTML guide informed me why I wasn’t getting the quest, and everything was fine from there on.

Everything else in this guide is extremely easy to use, and you’re introduced smoothly and with step by step instructions on how to use this guide — even though most anyone could just jump right in without them!

Guide effectiveness – 4.5 out of 5:

My very high score here is simply because Joana’s guide hits all the right buttons for me.

While you follow Joana’s guide you just know you’re doing the fastest route available, because each time you finish one quest, you’re right next to the next quest location, again and again. The route planned by Joana is excellent, and the proof is in the pudding when you see his note filled map’s which show exactly the route he takes.

The guide is very easy to use – click the next and previous buttons to select the step of the quest you’re on, and the arrow points the way there. Unlike other guides, you also get to see what quest or step is next, giving you a better idea of WHY you’re doing what you’re doing, and leaves you feeling clued in and in control.

The explanations of each quest are also excellent, again, unlike other guides, you’re not simply told, go here, accept this quest, kill that – Joana elaborates just enough to make you feel comfortable about his instructions, and in the end you feel like he’s right there showing you the way.

Joana loses half a point for a few very slightly wrong map coordinates (you can still find the quest another 5 seconds walk time past the point. I was also a bit confused when I started because of the multi step quests, as I explained above, so Joana literally barely loses a half point here.

Conclusion 4.5 out of 5:

A plain excellent guide. You all know I constantly harp on about how map mods are the best things ever – well, perhaps with Joana’s guide I’ve been proven (partially) wrong. The combination of a map mod, and a fully linked up html guide is unbeatable. For complex or difficult quests, being able to watch a video showing you exactly how its done is fantastic.
